The centerpiece of this Center will be a pool of Research Assistant Professorships, in which there is a cohort of 3 hires per year, each with a 3-year appointment. Substantial investment is required to hire in data science, if Cornell is to lure truly stellar candidates away from their current institutions and outcompete our peers who are also investing heavily in this area (including, for example, the new “college” at MIT).
By creating a rich ecosystem into which new hires can combine their burgeoning activity, Cornell can fully capitalize on its current leading role in this area.
There is an ongoing search to fill these positions, and further details for applying at Research Assistant Professorship Application Info.
